BA
STORIES

Our stories to give hope and empower others in the BA community.

JULIA & ANALY

Living Donor

When Julia was born, she was only 5 pounds and was immediately diagnosed with Jaundice.  She spent some time under the UV lights and after her levels normalized, we were allowed to go home. We got to take our perfect, beautiful, and healthy baby home with us.

ADELINE & MARGARET

Kasai & Living Donor

My second child, Adeline, was born on this day and deemed a “perfectly healthy” child by her pediatrician. Soon after her birth I realized something was very wrong. Her diapers were pale and after having an older son, I knew something was wrong.

FRANCESCO & MIMMA

Kasai & Living Donor

Francesco was born with biliary atresia (BA), an extremely rare liver disorder, and the leading cause of pediatric liver transplants. His battle with BA taught us the true meaning of bravery and perseverance. Instead of breaking us apart, the diagnosis reinforced our family’s bond and gave us strength that we never knew existed.

NORAH & GRACE

Kasai & Living Donor

Norah, our first child, was healthy and growing well - or so we thought. Her first symptoms of yellow eyes and pale stools prompted us to have her evaluated. She received a diagnosis of biliary atresia at around two months old, and had a Kasai surgery soon after.

NICHOLE
& ANITA

My parents never stopped me from enjoying life. I loved playing outdoors, it was hard to keep me inside. I was in swimming lessons for years.
